Which AAIP streams are open?

Alberta runs four worker streams: Alberta Opportunity, Alberta Express Entry (with Dedicated Health Care, Accelerated Tech, and Law Enforcement pathways), Rural Renewal, and Tourism and Hospitality. It also runs four entrepreneur streams: Rural Entrepreneur, Graduate Entrepreneur, Farm, and Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur. The family connection and occupation-in-demand pathway stopped issuing invitations on March 17, 2025.

Do I need an Alberta job offer?

Alberta Opportunity and Tourism and Hospitality require one, as do most Alberta Express Entry pathways. Rural Renewal requires both a job offer and an endorsement letter from a designated community. None of the four entrepreneur streams require a job offer. They turn on business ownership and investment instead.

How is my Worker Expression of Interest scored?

Out of 100 points. Human capital is worth 69: education 22, work experience 21, language 13, family connection in Alberta 8, and age 5. Economic factors are worth 31: an Alberta job offer 16, certification in a regulated occupation 10, and the job's location 5. There is no minimum score to submit, and Alberta draws by occupation and sector rather than by score alone.

How long do I have after a Notification of Interest?

You have 15 days to accept the notification and begin the application, then 30 days to complete, submit, and pay for it. A Worker Expression of Interest stays valid for 12 months; for one created on or after April 7, 2026, that year runs from the date the fee is paid rather than from submission.

What does an AAIP application cost?

Submitting a Worker Expression of Interest costs $135, a fee introduced on April 7, 2026. The worker stream application fee is $1,500, raised on April 1, 2025 to align with service delivery costs. Both are non-refundable.

How many nominations does Alberta have for 2026?
