1. What the AAIP is

   The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is Alberta's provincial nominee program. It runs several streams — Alberta Express Entry, Alberta Opportunity, Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, Accelerated Tech Pathway, and Rural Renewal — each targeting different profiles and labour-market needs.

2. How AAIP invitation rounds work

   Most AAIP streams notify candidates through an expression-of-interest process. The Alberta Express Entry stream selects Express Entry candidates with an Alberta connection and a CRS score Alberta considers competitive. Occupation-specific pathways (Healthcare, Tech) issue Notifications of Interest to candidates who meet the stream's targeting criteria.

3. Express Entry alignment

   The Alberta Express Entry stream is an enhanced stream — a nomination adds 600 CRS points to the federal profile. Alberta targets Express Entry candidates whose CRS sits below typical federal general-draw cutoffs but whose profile matches Alberta's priorities.

4. After a Notification of Interest

   A Notification of Interest is an invitation to submit a full AAIP application, not a nomination itself. Complete applications typically involve proof of Alberta connection, work experience, language, and education. After nomination, enhanced-stream candidates accept through Express Entry; other streams lead to a direct PR application.
