How does the MPNP rank candidates?

Through an Expression of Interest score built from six factors: adaptability up to 500 points, work experience up to 175, language up to 125, education up to 125, age up to 75, and a risk assessment that can subtract up to 200. Adaptability is by far the heaviest factor, which is why a Manitoba connection matters more here than a strong profile does.

Do I need a connection to Manitoba?

Yes. Every candidate must have at least one. The full 500 adaptability points go to either six months or more of ongoing Manitoba employment with a long-term job offer from the same employer, or an Invitation to Apply issued under a Strategic Initiative. A job offer is not a formal eligibility requirement, but in scoring terms it is close to decisive.

Which MPNP streams are open?

The Skilled Worker Stream (Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas), the International Education Stream, the Business Investor Stream, and the Temporary Resident Retention Pilot. Business Investor EOI draws are not currently being conducted, though EOIs are still reviewed within four weeks. The International Education Stream's Career Employment Pathway is being wound down, announced June 11, 2026.

How long do I have after a Letter of Advice to Apply?

60 days from the date of the letter to submit a full application. Manitoba stated on March 2, 2026 that it will not grant extensions. Once nominated, you have 180 days to apply to IRCC for permanent residence.

What does an MPNP application cost?

$500, non-refundable, paid when the application is submitted. Submitting an Expression of Interest is free. The fee is payable by Visa or Mastercard credit card only. Visa Debit is not accepted.
