Frequently asked questions
Which BC PNP streams are open to skilled workers?
Two are open to apply to directly: Skilled Worker and Health Authority, each with an Express Entry BC option for candidates who also meet an IRCC Express Entry program's criteria. A time-limited Rural and Remote Health Support initiative nominates up to 250 people already working for a BC health authority in a cleaning or security role in a rural or remote community, with registration open June 15 to August 31, 2026. BC draws under more labels than it has streams. The Care, Build, and Innovate names in the draw tables are targeting labels applied to those streams, not additional streams to apply to. The Tech, International Graduate, International Post-Graduate, and Entry Level and Semi-Skilled streams are all closed, and no current stream replaces the International Post-Graduate job-offer exemption.
BC PNP Skills Immigration Program Guide, June 10, 2026What are the Care, Build, and Innovate priorities?
They are the three objectives BC announced on April 23, 2026 that shape which registrations get invited. Care covers health care and the wider care economy, Build prioritizes certified workers in nine key in-demand skilled trades for infrastructure and major projects, and Innovate targets talent that drives long-term economic growth. Recent draws are published under labels such as Care: Health, Care: Childcare, Care: Veterinary Care, Build: Construction Trades, and Innovate: High Economic Impact. BC also expects at least 35% of all nominations to go to candidates working outside Metro Vancouver.
WelcomeBC · BC PNP news, April 23, 2026Do I need a BC job offer?
The Skilled Worker stream requires a full-time, indeterminate job offer from an eligible BC employer. The Health Authority stream requires an offer from a BC health authority, and it is the one stream you apply to directly: no registration, no waiting for an invitation. There is no current Skills Immigration stream that waives the job offer for recent graduates.
BC PNP Skills Immigration Program Guide, June 10, 2026How is my SIRS registration score calculated?
The maximum score is 200. Human capital factors are worth 120, up to 40 each for directly related work experience, highest level of education, and language proficiency in English or French. Economic factors are worth 80, up to 55 for the hourly wage of the BC job offer and up to 25 for the area within BC where the job is located. No documents are uploaded at registration, but everything you claim is verified against your application if you are invited.
BC PNP Skills Immigration Program Guide, June 10, 2026How long do I have to apply after an invitation, and how long does a registration last?
An invitation gives you 30 calendar days to submit a complete application, and that period cannot be extended. Receiving an invitation removes your registration from the pool even if you never apply. A registration that has not been invited within 12 months is removed automatically, and you may hold only one active BC PNP registration or application at a time. What the nomination is then worth depends on the stream: an Express Entry BC nomination adds 600 CRS points to a federal profile, while a base-stream nomination leads to a paper application to IRCC on longer federal timelines.
BC PNP Skills Immigration Program Guide, June 10, 2026What does a BC PNP application cost?
Registration is free. The Skills Immigration application fee is $1,750, raised from $1,475 on January 22, 2026. A request for review of a decision costs $500. The BC PNP accepts payment only through the BCPNP Online user portal.
